Enhancing the Effectiveness of Radiation Therapy Using Naturopathic Medicines
Enhancing radiation’s ability to kill cancer cells may increase a patients response rate and possibly increase his/her overall survival. In this lecture, Dr. Belanger will review the known mechanisms by which cancer cells become resistant to radiation. In addition, he will summarize the latest research on various naturopathic medicines studied to increase radiosensitization. Topics will include for example, DNA repair inhibition, advancement of the cell cycle, improvement of oxygen tension in the tumor microenvironment and modulating tumor glutathione levels.
