Eczema is an allergic reaction manifested in the skin. It can be caused by detergents and other topical agents as well as environmental allergens. Eczema can also be exacerbated by certain foods. Topical steroids merely suppress the condition, but dietary changes and essential fatty acids can permanently cure it.
